Touchpads werden je nach Notebook Hersteller und Modellvariante entweder von hinten, mit wenigen Schrauben, in das Topcase (Tastaturgehäuse) eingeschraubt aber in manchen Fällen auch eingeklebt.
Im Fall eines geklebten Touchpads ist Vorsicht geboten, wenn sie es in ihrem neuen Topcase erneut einbauen möchten.
Beim entfernen eines geklebten Touchpads kann es leicht bei Verwendung nicht geeigneter Werkzeuge zu beschädigungen der Platine und so zu Funktionsstörungen oder total Ausfall des Touchpads kommen.
